The RYA Sail for Gold Ball is back!
Usually a celebration of US independence, this 4th July will see the British sailing community come together in London to celebrate the sailors of the Olympic and Paralympic teams striving to sail for gold at Rio 2016.
The Sail for Gold Ball, held only in each Olympic year, serves as both a British Sailing Team fundraiser and a celebratory send-off for the selected Games sailors, this time on their way to Rio in pursuit of gold in their respective 10 Olympic and three Paralympic events.
On the 15th August in glories sunshine the Cartlidge family held a drinks party to celebrate the naming of Den's deck in memory of Denise Cartlidge.
On behalf of the members of the Royal Southern, I would like to express our thank to members of the Cartlidge family for the generous donation towards the construction of Den's Deck.
Many thanks to Bill and family.

Making use of the legacy that the highly successful 175 celebrations this year leaves astern of us.
Mr David Mead
The newly elected Commodore of the
Royal Southern Yacht Club, David Mead, has vowed to 'make use of the
legacy that the highly successful 175 celebrations this year leaves

its 175 year history.
Royal Southern Cruising Committee Away-day to the State Rooms and Queen's Diamonds Exhibition at Buckingham Palace
|Once upon a time, early in a
Diamond year, with a feeling in the air of tradition and anniversaries,
a plan was hatched to make an expedition to view the Queen's Diamonds,
to be exhibited at the Palace in her Diamond Jubilee Year. Excitement
mounted and a cohort came together to put the plan into practice.

shadowy group formed by the door of the Boomerang Club (not the usual
gathering - far more respectable) and each new arrival was issued with
his instructions. "Don't lose the ticket."
Family Fun Day 2012
|What a pity. I arrived too late to see the Dirty
Shirt Race, but the poor Race Officer was still breathless from running
between the start and finish lines along the offshore pontoon. This will
give you an indication of the seriousness of the events still to enfold.
|Lunch was made much more of an occasion by the
stirring efforts of the Hamble River Singers and the Ukele Band. I

the atmosphere was already full of goodwill, and the song sheets were
circulating to be used either to support the plates of lasagne or
bangers, or to identify the chorus and perhaps join in, although I think
the lunch won in most cases.
