A very warm welcome to the Royal Southern Yacht Club's 2008 Racing Programme.

Here on the Racing home page you will find links to the latest news, results and files.
We could not host these events without the expertise and support of our volunteer members and staff, both afloat and ashore, so I take this opportunity to thank them all.

I wish you all fair winds and enjoyable sailing in 2008.

Where do the lions go to lick their wounds and prepare for their next fight?
Well, in yachting terms, they repair promptly to the Royal Southern Yacht Club in Hamble!
After a tough Commodores Cup, French Blue Team yachts Lady Courrier and Batistyl arrived on Monday on the Royal Southern pontoon, knowing that the special relationship the Southern has with several French Clubs would assure them a warm welcome. Lady Courrier is the Beneteau First 45 of team captain Gery Trentesaux whilst Batistyl is an Archambault A40RC.
Both boats are preparing for the RORC Cowes – Dinard Race which starts on Friday, although the clock is ticking as Gery tries to get a new boom, having broken it in the last race of the Commodores Cup, sadly dropping the team down the rankings.
Already at the Royal Southern are a J/122, Nutmeg, a J/109 Perseverance, and a J/105 Moontiger, all from Dinard and St Malo. They competed in the Round the Island Race on Saturday 28th June, and the crews will return to participate in the Cowes – Dinard Race.
Expected tomorrow are a number of other Dinard based racing yachts using the Dinard Hamble Race to bring them up for Friday’s start. Amongst these is the beautiful Sparkman & Stephens sloop Gitana VI of the Rothschild family, with the Baroness Ariane on board.
So, polish up your French accent, and join in the fun this week at the Royal Southern Yacht Club. Wednesday and Thursday evenings will be lively!
