Ivy Green's Round The Island Race - (Inc Members Results)
Report & Images: Richard Jacobs
We make the most of the late start time and slip our mooring just after 7am. The forecast is for strengthening WSW wind, peaking off St. Catherine’s this afternoon, but it’s not cold and we should miss any rain.
We go for a single reef and the working No. 1 jib and staysail. It looks like the topsail and asymmetric will be staying in their bags.

Bembridge Rally Report
Bembridge Rally Report
Report & Images: Pat North
It's true; the sun does shine in Bembridge After two years of poor weather we were treated to the best of the summer. Eight yachts and 4 motorboats made their way to the splendid Bembridge Harbour. It was a real vacation and we enjoyed an evening pontoon party in shorts and T shirts after which some ate on the boat and others ventured to a restaurant in St Helen's. The walk back from t...

Ladies Afloat 25th May 2016
10 ladies in 2 yachts, a gentle northerly, spent a happy time sailing to and lunching in Wootton Creek. We rafted together on the pontoon and transferred crews, good food and wine to one boat and did what the ladies do best. Have fun! The time rushed by and we had to make a fast passage under engine back to the Hamble just in time to catch the very last launch to the RSrnYC. Report &...

Tricky Start for North Sails June Regatta
Tricky Start for North Sails June Regatta
With a bumper entry of 74 boats, racing at the North Sails June Regatta got under way with three races for all eight classes in the Eastern Solent.
With a strong westerly going tide and a light shifting breeze, good starting technique and anticipating the oscillations in the breeze were the keys to achieving the best performance.
In excess of three hundred sailors took to the two separate race courses in the Eastern Solent, and enjoyed the full hospitality of the Royal Southern's waterside Club House on the River Hamble.

The Landsail Tyres J-Cup in Partnership with B&G - Day Two: Quick out of the Blocks
Report:Louay Habib Images: Tim Wright
With five one design classes and a mixed IRC division of asymmetric yachts of similar speed, getting a good start at the Landsail Tyres J-Cup is crucial. The racing amongst the 66 examples of the J Boat design is nothing short of thrilling and spectacular.
A stronger gradient breeze, piping up to 16 knots, provided near planing conditions for the light weight flyers. Only two more races are scheduled for tomorrow's final day and favourites for the four UK National titles are emerging.

Our Commodore Karen Henderson-Williams was recently interviewed by Sasha Twining on BBC Radio Solent's H20 slot.
Karen was asked about her childhood and how she got into sailing with her parents, how she progressed from dinghies into keel boats and about her role in helping to develop youth sailing at the Club. She explained her current role as well as her stewardship of the Royal Southern as only the second lady Commodore in the Club's 179 year history. Karen also discussed her aims and objectives for the Club going forward. It's a great listen, and we hope you enjoy it.
