Another sailing season is coming to an end and nearly all the Club’s 2024 on-water events are now complete.  With the help of the Sailing Office team and our large band of volunteers, there have been very few weeks since March that haven’t seen one or more on-water event being enjoyed by Club members.  Whether as rallyist, competitor or volunteer, I hope we have been able to temp you to join in!

Thoughts now turn to the season to come and each of the interest-groups within the Sailing Committee have been working for some time on their plans for next year.  For convenience, we have pulled all of this into one place:

2025 Sailing Programme

As described in the Sailing Strategy which we shared with you in June, we intend strengthening our Youth offering.  The first step in this direction is reflected in the relevant section of the Programme; we expect to continue adding Splash, Junior Academy and Academy events through the year.

We also plan to hold Powerboat Level 2, Mark Laying and First Aid courses over the winter.

Our racing events in particular only happen with the help of a large number of volunteers.  Ellen Catherall has taken on the role of Volunteer Coordinator and she will be hosting several discussions over the winter to demystify what joining the Race Management team involves.  Please look out for these and think about listening to what she has to say.  Feedback from those that are part of our volunteer pool is that it is great fun and they hugely enjoy their time on the water.
